FLORIDA CWFL:  Most people who take shooting classes are seeking a certificate that proves they have been trained in safe firearms handling and use, the requirement the State of Florida places on those applying for a CWFL (Concealed Weapon or Firearm License). 

While the certificate from any NRA class is accepted by Florida, we teach the NRA First Steps Orientation (Pistol) to those interested in CWFL training.  The cost is $90 per person, unless you have your own pistol and ammunition, in which case you get a $30 discount.  The class is 4 hours in length and will teach you how to safely put your pistol into action, hit what you intend to shoot, take it out of action and maintain and store it for future use.  You can sign up for the class at the schedule and registration tab above

FLORIDA LAW:  Many come to "Concealed Weapons" classes expecting to discuss Florida law on the use of force.  NRA classes do not cover this topic since firearms instructors generally do not have any special legal knowledge to impart.  To address these questions we recommend Florida Firearms:  Law, Use and Ownership, by Jon H. Gutmacher.  His excellent work is considered the bible on the subject by police, judges and private citizens alike and will give you the best and most current information available in this quirky area of the law.  The information you'll get by reading this book is far better than anything you can get from a firearms class.

A little philosophy....
    Many feel the need to carry and be able to use a firearm because of known or suspected dangers they experience in their day to day lives.  While the right to defend one's own life and property is guaranteed by the US and Florida Constitutions, it is regulated by the state.  Only those who have been taught safe firearms handling, even if in the  most general way, are licensed to carry.
    It's important to remember though that the training required to be licensed is very basic.  We don't teach people to be gun fighters or law enforcement officers.  We only give the NRA training designed to help people avoid accidental injury or misuse of firearms.  
    Why?  Because that's all the State of Florida requires and it's all we have time for.  To go much beyond the most basic level requires a considerable amount of training and practice.  We have the skills and can take the time to train you thoroughly in the area of armed self defense if you should choose to invest more time and money in this training, but it is your choice.
    Firing a rifle, pistol or shotgun looks easy enough.  Almost anyone can do it from the first time they handle a firearm.  However, precise controlled fast accurate shooting is a learned skill.  Even one who seems to be a natural will have to invest time and energy to becoming a good shot.
    Our goal is to teach you to be safe, and then encourage you to embark on the lifelong path that we have chosen--to become quick, accurate and effective with any firearm we might ever want or need to use.

We've taught over 350 students, many who had never even touched a pistol before.  All have been able to meet the course standards and earn a completion cerfiticate.
